Build Your Claude Career Co-Pilot in 10 Minutes
Set up a Claude Project that remembers your role, goals, and documents — so every AI session starts smart instead of from scratch.

The idea
Most people use Claude like a search engine — type a question, get an answer, start from scratch next time. Claude Projects changes that. You give Claude a permanent workspace with your role, your documents, and your goals — and it remembers everything, every time. The result feels less like a tool and more like a colleague who already knows your context.
Who is this for?
Meera Nair
Senior Product Manager · Bengaluru
She used Claude every day but spent the first 3 minutes of every session re-explaining her role, her team, and her current project.
She set up a Claude Project called "My Work" — uploaded her job description, her Q2 priorities, and wrote 5 lines of custom instructions.
The next morning she opened Claude and asked for help with a stakeholder email. It replied like it had known her for months.
"The AI that knows your context is 10x more useful than the AI that doesn’t."

Do the challenge
1Create a new Claude Project
Go to claude.ai → Projects → New Project. Name it "My Career Work" or your role. Free users get up to 5 projects.
2Write your custom instructions
Tell Claude your role and seniority, your current top priority, your team size, and one line about your communication style. Use the template below.
3Upload 1–2 current documents
Your job description, a recent review, or a current project brief. These become Claude’s permanent context for this workspace. Keep them current — old docs confuse it.
💡 Upload only what’s current and relevant. A 2-year-old report makes Claude reference stale information — fewer, fresher documents work better than many old ones.
4Test it with a real task
Ask Claude to write an email, summarise a document, or prep for a meeting — without explaining who you are. Notice how much sharper the answer is.
Your template
My Claude Career Co-Pilot — Custom Instructions My role: [job title] at [company type/size] My seniority: [Junior / Mid / Senior / Lead / Manager / Director+] My top priority this quarter: [one sentence] My team: [size and brief description, or "I work independently"] My communication style: [e.g. "Direct and concise. Bullet points over long paragraphs."] My biggest career goal right now: [one sentence] When helping me with work tasks: - Write at my seniority level — assume I understand my field deeply - Default to concise, structured output unless I ask for more - When I share a document, tell me what matters for MY role, not a generic summary - For emails or messages, match my communication style above Documents in this project: - [Document 1 — what it is] - [Document 2 — what it is]
